There are 3 primary ways to add a story in MyFamilyArchive (MFA), each with a different purpose. The third method is highlighted in this section.
1) The Narrative Feature - The first method is that each Collection Page automatically includes a "Narrative" section under the photo of the person, couple, or family history collection. Here you can enter a story about that person, family, or family history, depending upon the page subject. Just click the edit icon to the right of the word "Narrative".
2) Creating and Storing a PDF - The second method is best if you would like to include multiple photos, create your own formatting, etc. Here you would write your story in a product such as Word or Google Documents and (not required but suggested) save it as a PDF document and upload this to your preferred cloud site. You can then link to that document just as you do with any other Linked Album.
3) Our Story Feature - The third method may be best if you want to add a simple story and at most just one primary photo. Here our built-in Story feature enables the addition of a Story without having to store it in another cloud site, and it allows the addition of one photo for the Story heading and preview image. The purpose of this feature is to enable adding a story in fewer steps, and it does not require a Share Link. It does, however, count as a Linked Album, and Free tier accounts are allowed just one Story before subscribing.
The Built-In Story Feature
- In this option, you start a new Linked Album just like any other.
- You will enter an Album Name (even though this is just one Story) and then type or paste the Story text directly into the Album Description box.
- Next is where it then differs from a normal Linked Album. Above the URL box you'll see a check box option for a Story. Checking this grays out the URL box and tells MFA that this Linked Album is a Story-only, and it will not try to link to another cloud site.
- Finally, you can optionally add one photo that will appear in the Story heading that can also be cropped to become the preview image. This Photo will be stored by MFA.
The Story will display on a Collection Page just like any other Linked Album, but will have the words "a Story" superimposed over the preview image.
When either the Preview Image or the Description is clicked, the Story shows as seen below.
There is a Print icon in the bottom right corner of the Story, allowing you to print that Story should you wish.
